IPD Intake Y-Pipe for Porsche 991.1 Turbo/Turbo S The 991.1 (2014-16) 911 Turbo and Turbo S from Stuttgart offer ballistic acceleration and top speeds on either side of 200 mph. Of course, there's always room for performance improvement for Porsche driving enthusiasts looking to raise the performance bar even higher. IPD invested countless hours of R&D with a variety of unique design features and testing multiple prototypes before settling on the optimum design to significantly improve engine performance for both stock and highly modified 991.1 Turbos. Their innovative Y-Pipe design is not only larger but also utilizes “non-round” runners, an optimized merge collector area, and their proven dimpled interior surfacing. This superior design delivers greater volume of air, improved laminar flow, and increased air velocity, delivering an additional 35 horsepower and 40 lbs-ft of torque at the wheels! Plus improved boost response and more linear horsepower and torque curves. As you know, bigger is not always better when it comes to forced induction applications. The IPD Y-Pipe is considerably larger than the factory, but not so large as to cause pressure drop within the intake tract that could result in turbo lag and reduced performance. This optimized “non-round” design with dimpled interior surface cannot be achieved with conventional round tube construction. At the time auto racing's biggest problem was basal skull fracture. Caused by the whiplash motion in an impact, basal skull fracture often severed spinal cords, resulting in death. The original FHR designs did wonders for limiting how far forward the helmet could travel in an impact eliminating the finished whipping motion.In testing to see how well FHR’s do at preventing basal skull fracture, we look at upper neck tension. This number is the main pass/fail standard for the safety organization.In our mission of concussion prevention, the original FHR goal of lowered upper neck tension was not lost on us and we were able to come in several hundred pounds below the set standard either matching or besting the current industry leaders.

This allows Driving Instructors, Auto Manufacturing Test Engineers, and others in cars with 3-point harnesses to have added protection. We are pleased to offer this great option for increased protection to this sector of the market. Bear in mind, however, that on a racetrack the best protection we believe is a Full-Containment Cockpit System that includes a full containment seat, Snell SA2015 or FIA 8860 rated helmet, FIA or SFI approved head restraint, and 6- or 7-point racing harness system. (The SAS strap anchor loops hook into the buckle of a 5-, 6- or 7-point racing harness.) Have the wearer put on the Hybrid S and get into the driver's seat. Follow the instructions on fitting the device to the wearer. Engage the 3-point seat belt and sit in the normal driving position. Have a helper apply gentle pressure to the top of the device, keeping the device stable during tether adjustment. The device should be in a comfortable position behind the driver’s back, against the seat cushion. With the helper holding the device and the driver looking straight forward, hold the triangulated tether up to the anchors on the driver’s helmet. Adjust the side tethers so that the end fitting can be easily inserted into the helmet anchor without pulling down on the helmet. A comfortable adjustment on the side tether is to have about ¼” of slack in the tethers. With the helper still holding the device down and the driver looking straight ahead, adjust the rear tethers so that there is ½” to 1” of slack. Test the amount of head movement by moving the head straight forward. The driver should have 1” to 2” of forward head movement before the slack is taken out of the tether. Remember when checking this not to rotate the head down; translate it straight forward. This should allow for plenty of head movement on track. AIRBAG USE WITH HYBRID S: DO NOT unhook or disable the airbag system installed by the auto manufacturer or their authorized installer. Outside experts in Detroit have confirmed this and require their test engineers to use the Hybrid S in conjunction with the airbag in a 3-point system. Simpson agrees that the airbag and Hybrid S work together to increase protection in frontal crashes.
