Girodisc Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (5th Gen) Rear Iron Rotor Conversion
Upgrade your 5th-Gen Camaro Z/28 with Girodisc’s rear iron rotor conversion, engineered as a direct replacement for the OEM carbon-ceramic rotors. This high-performance setup delivers superior heat control, lower replacement costs, and the same confident braking feel that made the Z/28 a track legend.
Direct Carbon-Ceramic Replacement, Built to Perform
The Girodisc system is a true bolt-on solution—no modifications or adapters needed. Each rotor features a CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum hat mated to Girodisc’s proprietary cast-iron friction rings, both made in the USA. The floating two-piece design manages heat expansion under hard braking, maintaining perfect pad contact and preventing warping. Curved internal vanes act like centrifugal pumps to pull cooling air through the discs, keeping temperatures in check lap after lap.
Features
• Direct replacement for OEM carbon-ceramic rear rotors• Billet 6061-T6 aluminum hats with hard-anodized finish• Proprietary cast-iron rings poured and machined in the USA• Floating mount system with cadmium-plated steel drive pins• Anti-noise spring washers eliminate rattle while allowing float• Curved vane design improves airflow and cooling• Fully rebuildable—replace only the rotor rings when worn• Sold/priced per pair
Vehicle Fitment
Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (2014–2015, 5th Generation)Fits OEM carbon-ceramic brake systems with factory Brembo calipers.
Girodisc A2-172 Rear Rotor FAQs:
Why switch from carbon-ceramic to iron rotors? Iron rotors offer greater heat capacity, improved modulation, and dramatically reduced replacement cost—ideal for track-day or endurance use where carbon ceramics can degrade quickly.
Are these a direct fit for the Z/28’s carbon-ceramic setup? Yes. They bolt directly to the factory hubs and work with the original Brembo calipers and parking-brake system.
Do these affect ABS or stability control? No. Girodisc rotors maintain factory geometry and tone-ring compatibility, so all electronic systems function normally.
What difference will I feel when driving? Expect smoother pedal feedback, improved heat management under repeated hard braking, and more consistent stopping power throughout a session.
Upgrade your Camaro Z/28 with Girodisc’s rear iron rotor conversion and experience the durability, balance, and braking precision trusted by serious track drivers everywhere.

A1-172 Girodisc 2pc Front Brake Rotors for Chevy Camaro Z/28 (Gen 5)
$2,062.00
Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (5th Gen) Front Iron Rotor Conversion
The Girodisc Front Iron Rotor Conversion for the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 provides a lightweight, high-performance alternative to the factory carbon-ceramic rotors. Designed as a direct replacement for the OE discs, this system bolts on with no permanent modifications required. For optimal performance and reasonable rotor weight, it requires brake pads with a swept area (annulus) of 66mm or less, using the FMSI #1405 pad shape.
Performance and Design
By switching from carbon-ceramic to iron rotors, drivers benefit from improved heat management, reduced replacement costs, and consistent braking performance under repeated heavy use. The Girodisc design maintains factory brake bias and ABS functionality while significantly improving serviceability.
Features
- Direct replacement for the OEM front carbon-ceramic rotors.
- Requires the FMSI #1405 pad shape (available in multiple compounds).
- Two-piece floating rotor assembly combines a proprietary cast iron friction ring with a precision-machined 6061-T6 aluminum hat.
- Curved internal vanes act as a centrifugal pump to maximize cooling airflow through the rotor.
- Floating mount system with 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins allows axial and radial float to accommodate heat expansion and reduce stress.
- Anti-noise spring washers eliminate the rattle typically associated with floating rotors during street use.
- Cadmium-plated hardware ensures long-term corrosion resistance and durability.
- Lightweight two-piece design lowers rotational and unsprung mass, improving acceleration, steering response, and suspension control.

FAQs: Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (5th Gen) Front Iron Rotor Conversion
Why do I need to use a different pad shape? The Girodisc rotors are optimized for a 66mm pad annulus to maintain ideal weight and thermal characteristics. The required pad shape is FMSI #1405.
Can I reuse my OEM pads? No. The OEM pads are too large for the reduced swept area and may cause overheating or excessive wear.
Will this affect my ABS or brake balance? No. The system retains the factory brake bias and integrates seamlessly with the stock calipers and ABS tuning.
Are these rotors noisy? The use of spring washers in the floating mount design minimizes rattle and vibration while still allowing full float under thermal load.
What happens when the rotors wear out? The aluminum hats are reusable; you only need to replace the cast iron friction rings and reassemble with new hardware.
Ordering Information

CMS Performance
CMS Performance RF1 Racing Brake Fluid (500 ml)
from $36.00
CMS Performance RF1 DOT4 Racing Brake Fluid
Real Life 622º Boiling Point Without the Real High Price
RF1 Racing Brake Fluid from CMS Performance is a fully-synthetic DOT4 brake fluid formulated to provide extraordinary performance under the most demanding high-temperature racing and track-day conditions. With a dry boiling point of 622º F / 328º C, RF1 exceeds all DOT 3 & DOT 4 requirements and is compatible with all DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1 fluids.
Note: RF1, like all DOT 4 brake fluids, is not compatible with DOT 5 silicone-based or any mineral-based brake fluids.
On the race track, there is perhaps no single safety system more important than your brakes. No single part of that system is more critical than brake fluid, given the extraordinarily high temperatures it operates under. At CMS Performance, we got tired of (and a little nervous) using "racing" brake fluid at the race track that didn't live up to its claimed performance when things got hot. We found more than a few brands whose product was all hype and not high performance.
No Hype. All Performance. No Kidding.
So we did something about it. CMS Performance RF1 is manufactured in partnership with Orthene, maker of the also-excellent Halo P1 racing brake fluid and a brake fluid supplier to many racing teams in Formula 1, WEC, and other professional series. RF1 was formulated to maintain consistent viscosity, lubricity, and compressibility at the extreme system temperatures and line pressures found in racing and track days.
The bottom line is this: you can spend a lot more on brake fluid, but it's hard to find higher-performance than RF1 Racing Brake Fluid.

A Word About Flushing Brake Fluid
All brake fluid degrades over time (not mileage), attracting water as it ages, which, at high brake temperatures, can lead to fluid boil and brake fade or failure. That's why the "wet" (aged) boiling point of any brake fluid is substantially lower than the "dry" (new) boiling point.
To maintain maximum braking performance, Competition Motorsport strongly suggests replacing your brake fluid before every track event, but at least every three months if you're consistently racing and/or driving at track days. It's cheap insurance against learning about brake fade the hard way!
