Fitment: Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 This Girodisc two-piece rotor set is a direct replacement for the rear rotors on the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 with either the factory cast iron rotors or the Z07 carbon ceramic rotors1. Girodisc two-piece, fully floating rotor assemblies help shed unsprung weight and rotating mass from the front axle of the C8 Z06 with iron rotors, while being far more durable in track use than the fragile and very expensive Z07 carbon ceramic rotors. American Made With Specially Formulated Materials Girodisc rotor rings are machined from a proprietary casting made of high-carbon steel formulated to Girodisc’s specifications. This superior metallurgy results in a rotor that holds up better, and the 72 curved vanes act as a centrifugal pump pulling air in through the hub to effectively cool the rotors under hard use. The two-piece design means the reusable hat which can be attached to new rotor rings (part number D2-319) when the latter need to be replaced. All major components including the hats, rotor rings, and drive pins are manufactured in-house at the Girodisc facility in Bellingham, WA, from domestically-sourced materials. The hat is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and coated in a black anodized finish. The drive pins are made from a high-strength steel alloy and cadmium-plated for corrosion resistance. All rotors are assembled with spring clips and Belleville washers for race-ready float while also being street-friendly with no noise from loose hardware. The minimum thickness at which we recommend replacing these rings is 32mm. We also recommend replacing them if a crack leads to the edge of the ring. This Girodisc iron rotor conversion is a direct replacement for the OE carbon ceramic disc with no modifications needed. The central hat section of the Girodisc rotor is made from strictly USA-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from Girodisc's own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved-vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump forcing cool air through the disc. The disc and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured in the US by Girodisc and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the loads from braking while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. They are secured by class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise springs on the disc side, allowing the iron disc to expand as it heats up while eliminating the rattle and noise commonly associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the brake pads. Once the Girodisc system is in place, you simply replace the cast iron discs when needed. Dry carbon is stronger and lighter than wet carbon, often weighing 1/3 of our competitors’ products. Our manufacturing methods also produce a smoother surface on each part for more dimensional accuracy; shaving edges, widening mounting holes and flexing pieces to make them fit are a thing of the past. C3 Carbon also applies an automotive urethane clear-coat which is U/V cured for durability and guarantees C3 Carbon parts won't yellow over time. Many of our competitors use wet carbon (which is heavier), and some use fiberglass with a carbon overlay (much heavier, as the carbon fiber has epoxy literally painted onto it).
