The Girodisc A2-049B Rear Rotor Kit delivers high-performance braking and improved cooling for Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 and 981 Spyder models. Designed as a direct replacement for the OE discs, this 2-piece floating rotor system includes caliper spacers and longer bolts for easy installation of the larger diameter rotors. The result is enhanced braking torque, reduced unsprung mass, and a significant upgrade in heat dissipation—all while maintaining factory balance and ABS function.
Precision Engineering & Lightweight Performance
Each rotor features a CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum hat mated to Girodisc’s proprietary cast iron ring, ensuring optimal strength and weight reduction. The 2-piece floating design reduces rotational inertia and improves handling response. The rotor’s curved vane internal design acts as a centrifugal pump, channeling air through the disc to maximize cooling efficiency during hard use on the street or track.
Floating Mount System & Quiet Operation
The Girodisc floating mount system uses 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins manufactured in-house in the USA. These pins, cadmium-plated for corrosion resistance, connect the rotor ring to the aluminum hat via class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. Anti-noise spring washers allow thermal expansion while eliminating unwanted rattles—offering a race-proven floating design that’s quiet enough for everyday driving.

Does this retain the factory parking brake? Yes — the design preserves parking brake function.
Can I only replace rotor rings, not hats? Yes. The hat is reusable; the replacement rings are sold separately as D2-388.
Are these street-friendly? Yes. The floating design is engineered to operate quietly for street use while providing race-level performance.
When should I replace the rotor rings? When thickness reaches 30 mm or when cracks approach the ring’s edge.

Upgrade Your BMW F8x To The Best Racing Rotors Available
If you have a BMW M2, M3, or M4 with blue calipers and iron rotors, this Girodisc floating iron rotor system is a direct replacement for your BMW ;front rotors. No modifications to your car are necessary. The 380mm diameter rotors will bolt directly to your BMW and work with the original blue calipers perfectly. By upgrading your BMW brakes with lightweight high-performance replacements, your factory bias is maintained as well as your ABS efficiency.
Girodisc two-piece floating rotors are lighter than OEM brake rotors. This reduction in rotational mass and unsprung weight allows for quicker acceleration, sharper steering, and faster suspension response.
When used with Pagid or PFC performance brake pads and CMS RF-1 brake fluid (available from Competition Motorsport), you have an amazing solution to overheating, cracking and warping rotors.
The central hat section of each Girodisc is made from 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is manufactured from cast iron constructed in the USA, made to the same specification with the same material used by professional racing organizations. The rotors' curved vane design was developed in racing and acts as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.
The rotor and hat mount together through a floating mount system which utilizes ten high strength alloy steel drive pins manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to their own specifications and are cadmium plated for corrosion resistance. The alloy drive pins transfer the load from the brake action while maintaining the axial and radial float between the disc rotor and hat. The pins are secured by Grade-12 cap screws with hardened washers and mounted with anti-noise spring washers to allow for heat expansion while eliminating the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors.
The two-piece Girodisc design allows for disc-only replacement as well, minimizing future replacement costs and delivering outstanding performance.
