GiroDisc Floating Rotor Design
GiroDisc's two-piece rotor system uses a fully floating connection between the cast-iron rotor ring and aluminum hat. High-strength alloy steel drive pins transfer braking loads while allowing the rotor to expand independently as temperatures increase under hard braking.
The drive pins are manufactured by GiroDisc in the USA to its own specifications and are cadmium plated for corrosion resistance. Grade 12 cap screws, hardened washers, and anti-noise spring washers secure the assembly while allowing the necessary axial and radial float. The result is a durable, high-performance rotor system that manages heat effectively without the excessive noise commonly associated with traditional floating rotors.
Replace the Wear Item, Not the Entire Rotor
One of the primary advantages of the GiroDisc two-piece system is serviceability. Once the rotor rings reach their wear limit, the existing aluminum hats can be reused rather than replacing the complete rotor assembly. This significantly reduces replacement cost while maintaining the braking performance, cooling, and durability expected from GiroDisc.
