Every rotor ring is made carefully in house at the Girodisc factory in Washington state. The Girodisc rotor utilizes a curved vane design that was originally developed in racing to act as a centrifugal air pump to force cooling air from the center of the rotor ring to the outside. This principle is similar to what is know as a squirrel cage fan design. By having impellers (vanes) between the two rotor faces, the air is moved radially, from the center outward, changing the direction of the airflow and increasing velocity. This design is mechanically strong, reliable, and very effective. Girodisc Rotor Ring Hardware The Girodisc rotor ring and light-weight aluminum hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 8 or 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to their own specifications and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance.
