The Porsche front strut mount is uniform across all 981 and 718 model variants as part of the aluminum body structure. For GT and RS sub-models, which are frequently used on track, the pressure on the strut mount is significantly higher than for street-only cars. As a result, catastrophic front strut tower failures are more common in GT/RS models compared to standard models.
To address this issue in Porsche factory race cars, they are equipped with Porsche Motorsport strut tower reinforcement plates designed to prevent such failures. These reinforcement plates effectively increase the strength and durability of the front strut tower mounting points, greatly reducing the risk of failure.
The performance results are impressive, with race cars rarely experiencing strut mount failures compared to street cars.

When we run our Porsche 718 GT4 RS with high downforce Angle-Of-Attack (AOA) settings on high-speed tracks, or when using high-downforce motorsport wings, the potential for metal dents in the sheet metal supporting the tailgate increases.
For instance, the SilverRocket DRS-1 wing can generate over 550 lbs. of downforce at 200 mph. This substantial downforce is directed through the wing supports into the car's body at two points beneath the tailgate. There is a risk that high downforce could cause dents in the metal at these support points.
